1. Overview
cAIrbo ("we", "our", "the app") is a food diary application that uses artificial intelligence to recognize food from photos and estimate nutritional information including carbohydrates, glycemic load, and sugar content.
This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data. By using cAIrbo, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
The app is operated by Laszlo Sandor Gyarmati, an individual developer based in Hungary.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data stored locally on your device
All meal data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences). This includes:
- Food entry names and timestamps
- Estimated carbohydrate, sugar, and glycemic load values
- Food component breakdowns (ingredients estimated by AI)
- Photos you take or select (stored in your device's file system)
- AI analysis results
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it via the CSV export feature.
2.2 Data sent during AI analysis
When you use the AI food recognition feature, the following data is transmitted:
- A compressed version of the food photo (as Base64)
- Your device's language setting (to return results in your language)
- An anonymous app token identifying the request as coming from cAIrbo
This data is sent to our secure proxy server (Cloudflare Workers) which forwards it to AI providers. Photos are not stored by us or our AI providers after analysis.
2.3 Subscription and purchase data
If you subscribe to cAIrbo Premium, your subscription is managed by RevenueCat and the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We receive:
- An anonymous subscriber ID from RevenueCat
- Subscription status (active/expired)
- Purchase date and renewal dates
We do not receive or store your payment card details, Apple ID, or Google account information.
2.4 Data we do NOT collect
- We do not require account registration
- We do not collect your name, email, or personal identity
- We do not track your location
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels
- We do not collect crash analytics beyond what Apple/Google provide by default
3. How We Use Your Data
Data collected through the app is used solely to:
- Provide AI food recognition and nutritional estimation
- Display your meal history and daily carbohydrate summaries
- Enable CSV export of your meal data
- Verify your subscription status for Premium features
- Maintain the daily AI usage counter (stored locally)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

All meal data is stored locally on your device using the operating system's secure storage mechanisms (SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS). This data is protected by your device's security features (screen lock, encryption).
Our proxy server does not retain photos or meal data after returning analysis results. API keys are stored as encrypted secrets on Cloudflare's servers and are never transmitted to the app.
If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.
